Generic name: acetaminophen and butalbital

Dosage form: Tablet
Route of administration: Oral
Dose: 25 mg butalbital and 325 mg acetaminophen per tablet; typically, 2 tablets every 4 hours as needed, not exceeding 12 tablets in 24 hours. Extended and repeated use is not recommended due to potential for physical dependence.
Mechanism of action: Butalbital is a barbiturate that relaxes muscle contractions involved in tension headaches. Acetaminophen is an analgesic and antipyretic that reduces pain and fever.

- Hypersensitivity to acetaminophen or butalbital
- Porphyria
- Severe liver disease
- History of drug or alcohol addiction
- Concurrent use with other medications containing acetaminophen

Warnings:
- Risk of severe liver damage with acetaminophen overdose

- May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating heavy machinery
- Alcohol use may increase the risk of liver damage
- Use caution in patients with a history of drug or alcohol addiction
- Not approved for use in individuals under 18 years old
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding:
It is not known whether Allzital will harm an unborn baby. However, this medicine can cause seizures in a newborn if the mother takes the medicine late in pregnancy. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not breast-feed while using Allzital.
