Generic name: Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide
Drug class: Antacids
Dosage form: Oral tablet, chewable (1000 mg-200 mg; 550 mg-110 mg)
Root of administration: Oral
Dose: Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 to 2 chewable tablets as needed for symptom relief. Do not exceed 7 tablets in a 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 14 days without medical advice.
Mechanism of action: Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that neutralize stomach acid, providing relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.

- Relief of heartburn
- Relief of acid indigestion
- Relief of upset stomach
Drug contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, or any component of the formulation
- Severe renal impairment
- Hypercalcemia
- Hypermagnesemia
Side effects:
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Upset stomach
- Signs of high calcium or magnesium levels in the blood, such as increased thirst or urination, muscle weakness, bone pain, confusion, slow heart rate, or difficulty breathing
- Allergic reactions, including hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
Warnings:
- Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor
- Do not use for longer than 14 days in a row without medical advice
- Do not exceed 7 tablets in a 24-hour period
- Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat
- Avoid taking other medications at the same time as this antacid, as it may interfere with their absorption
- Consult your doctor before using if you have kidney disease, are on a low-magnesium diet, or have other health problems
