Generic name: Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide

Drug class: Antacids

Dosage form: Oral tablet, chewable (1000 mg-200 mg; 550 mg-110 mg)

Root of administration: Oral

Dose: Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 to 2 chewable tablets as needed for symptom relief. Do not exceed 7 tablets in a 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 14 days without medical advice.

Mechanism of action: Calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide are antacids that neutralize stomach acid, providing relief from heartburn, acid indigestion, and upset stomach.

Drug contraindications:

• Allergic reactions, including hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

Warnings:

• Use exactly as directed on the label or as prescribed by your doctor
• Do not use for longer than 14 days in a row without medical advice
• Do not exceed 7 tablets in a 24-hour period
• Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat
• Avoid taking other medications at the same time as this antacid, as it may interfere with their absorption
