Mechanism of action: Paliperidone works by blocking dopamine D2 receptors and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors in the brain, which helps to regulate mood, thoughts, and behavior.
Drug usage cases: Paliperidone is used for the treatment of schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.
Drug contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to paliperidone, risperidone, or any of its components.
Side effects: Common side effects include headache, dizziness, drowsiness, weight gain, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and constipation.
