Generic name: Revefenacin
Drug class: Anticholinergic bronchodilators
Dosage forms: Inhalation Solution
Root of administration: Oral inhalation
Dose: 175 mcg/3 ml
Mechanism of action: Yupelri (revefenacin) is a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) that works by blocking the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in the contraction of smooth muscles in the airways.
Drug usage cases: Yupelri is an anticholinergic medicine. Anticholinergic medicines help the muscles around the airways in your lungs stay relaxed. Yupelri is a prescription medicine used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Yupelri relaxes the muscles in your lungs to help prevent wheezing, cough, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
Drug contra indications: You should not use Yupelri if you are allergic to revefenacin. To make sure Yupelri is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had:
glaucoma; urination problems; an enlarged prostate; or liver disease. Yupelri is not approved for use by anyone younger than 18 years old.
Side effects: Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Yupelri: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have:
wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using this medicine; blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or redness, or seeing halos around lights; painful or difficult urination; or trouble emptying your bladder (a weak stream of urine).
Warnings: Yupelri is not a rescue medicine for bronchospasm attacks. Use only fast-acting inhalation medicine for an attack. Seek medical attention if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your medications are not working as well.
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding: Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
